TESTIMONIAL JEREMEY GRAVES FARMERS OIL COMPANY
When it came to designing Mamma Cried, there was never any question that the Tractor would be a Peterbilt. The Peterbilt platform offered us the best option because not only did it need to perform as an everyday dependable work truck, it also had to provide a practical platform for customization. As a work truck we had to consider the functionality of every modification made.
We knew based on the temperature extremes in Kansas; cold winters and hot summers, we needed an HVAC unit that would provide adequate and dependable heating and cooling for our Drivers comfort. Just as important was the safety factor, regardless of the time the Tractor was stopped, and the significant fuel savings realized from not having to idle the engine. The 115 Volt Model of the Enviro-Fleet Underbunk HVAC unit was the only viable option. It also allowed us flexibility when it came to choosing a power source since its maximum wattage draw is only 2,415 watts in Stage2 heat mode at 8,000 Btu; and 1,840 watts required for cooling at 14,000Btu.
Beyond the practical side, since it was to be a show truck, we needed a system which was compact and would not require modification of the sleeper with additional ducting. The Enviro-Fleet unit accomplished both of these goals as it fit completely under the bunk and easily tied into the existing sleeper duct work, for that factory-installed look. Since the unit is mounted completely inside of the Cab, its exposure to vibration and the harsh road environment that a split system requires were no longer a concern.
When Enviro-Fleet stated "Build the APU System you want-not the one someone else thinks you need" I was a bit skeptical, but after my experience with Mamma Cried, I am a believer. I also want to thank Kenny Doonan of Doonan Peterbilt for all of his help and assistance.
